PVP Myrmidon setup

So after an evening of hard work, here below, is the PvP Myrmidon setup that we put together last night.

Gallente Myrmidon PVP setupHere is the list of modules from the Highs to the Lows:
  • High Slots
    • 4x Heavy Electron Blaster I
    • 1x E5 Prototype Energy Vampire
    • 1x Drone Link Augmentor I
  • Medium Slots
    • 1x Sensor Booster II
    • 1x 10mn Afterburner
    • 1x Warp Disruptor I
    • 1x Patterned Stasis Web I
    • 1x Medium F-RX Prototype I Capacitor Booster
  • Low Slots
    • 2x Medium Armor Repairer
    • 1x 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
    • 1x N-Type Kinetic Hardener I
    • 1x N-Type Explosive Hardener I
    • 1x Armor Thermic Hardener I
So this is the setup with which I left Khanid Prime earlier this evening, on my way to defend FIX properties in 49-U6U. That was 15 jumps away. Right after I completed my fourteenth jump, 6 pilots jumped with me in 5V-BJI. Unfortunately, even the best PvP setups can't help you when the odds are stacked up 6-to-1. Let's just say I never made to 49-U6U! I'll post the evemail (or killmail as it's called) in the comments section. The one thing that I'm proud of, id the length of time I lasted, even with six ships pounding me!

After waking up in Badivefi, I can say that I've learned my first lesson on PvPing: never travel alone in low sec. Guess I learned that the hard way. But do not despair, I plan on getting funds from the corp, getting a new Myrmidon, and setting her up with the same setup. This time though, I'll try using my brains a little bit more!

  2. looks like they had a pretty solid gang setup, definitely nothing you could have done. Congrats on lasting a while though, that's usually the only consolation I have as well. :)

  3. I just don't know what to say....

IMHO that is a bad setup but then again we fly in very different kinds of gangs. In general BCs are poor PvP ships. The odds were very much against you though so I doubt any setup would have saved that myrmidon.

Wghat was your overall goal for the setup? If your answer is "live long and kill often" then Id say go back to the drawing board, but otherwise really consider the role you are taking when outfitting your ship.

    Cheers

  4. Ok, so let's say that indeed my idea was "live long and kill often", then what Gallente ship and set-up would you recommend?

  5. The only thing I would disagree with is the DLA. Maybe you were running into fitting issues, but I would have rather of gone 6 blasters, depending on how well you can fit stuff. I mean, it doesn't make much sense to outfit a long range device when you are clearly set up for close in gank. If you want to use the DLA you should go rails and drop all that gank stuff in the mids. For blasters consider electrons. I'd drop the actives and go for 2 EANMs maybe and either leave a single hardner in for explo or put in a damage mod in the lows.. The myr has 125 drone bay capacity. I would probably tool around with a load out of mediums, that looks like 5 Hammers, 5 medium EWs, and 5 hobo's. Or you could go 4 Wasp EW types, and 5 hobo's.

The myr has a pretty nice drone bonus, and this is where "you need to ask yourself what your roll is". If your operating in a gang, others should pick up the ew support roll leaving you to go straight gank, and others should be picking up tackling, that is, those who are better equipped for it. I would still not go 5 heavies on the myr, but again it depends on the roll and the circumstance.

In a gang, I might consider dropping a rep and putting in a damage mod with a DC unit.

  6. Thanks a lot mate for all the tips. I definitely spend the time researching the new set-up.

Please feel free to email me a few good set-up ideas if you've got the time. You seem to be quite knowledgeable and I could definitely use the help!

    Cheers!

  7. 1. Hai, I'm the Taranis.
    2. Your setup sucks.
    3. It really sucks.
    4. I'm bored
    5. Convo me ingame and I'll tell ya to fit it.
    6. Oh yeah traveling a warzone solo in anything that isn't an Inty/Vagabond/Nanocurse/Recon/CovOp is retarded.

  9. gang setup:

    high slot:
    5 ion blasters
    1 remote medium armor rep

    middle slot
    10mn afterburner tech2
medium cap booster with 800 charges
    warp disruptor
    2 remote sensor damps

    low slots:
    2 medium armor rep
    kinetic hardener
    thermal hardener
    explosive hardener
    damage control

    5 ogres

    of course all tech 2

i dont solo much but i think something like 4 heavy electrons, 2 medium nos, web, tracking disruptor are the differences

  10. Agreed, the PvP solo thing won't be very fun for me until I've wrapped the concept of going at it by myself.

Interesting setup. My current limitation for using Tech2 is a few skills I need to train. Then I should be fine, as long as I'm not just by myself that is!
