After an unwarranted and totally inapropriate long wait, here are the 3 randomly chosen winners of the latest EVE Blog Banter. Each will be getting some of the Fanfest swag I brought back from EVE Fanfest 2011.

And the winners are:
Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to all of you who participated in this latest EVE Blog Banter!

As for the prizes, that'll have to wait until I can dig them out of the CKave and randomly sort through them. I promise to post a picture of what I'll be mailing to you soon(tm)!

Cheers!

Speedlinking for the week-end of December 11th, 2010

The last 2 weeks have been crazy in RL, but never the less I'm slowly getting ready to get back into the game. I'm about to get ready to get into some 1vs1 PvP with a folks who responded to my plea for a sensei. So I should I some interesting news and postings in the next few days. But for now, here's the latest articles that have come to my attention:

The New Eden Chronicles Co-Host Contest: We have Winners!

Maeve and I were very excited by the number of great entries we got, as well as their originality, and though we're a few days late in announcing our EVE Podcast Co-Host Contest results, we're happy to tell you that we've got 2 winners to announce!

After going through all the mp3 clips, picking just one winner proved to be an impossible task. We can tell you without a doubt that there's enough talent out there for many more EVE podcasts! Getting back to ours though, we ended up narrowing it down to "2" co-hosts, who will be joining Maeve and I as part of the New Eden Chronicles crew, a podcast dedicated to the EVE Community itself. So here they are,
Congratulations to the both of you!

The new podcast, New Eden Chronicles, as I mentioned, will tend to focus on the EVE Community and the amazing talent found within it. We'll cover EVE Online blogs, the EVE Blog Banters and what not, other podcasters, the artists and musicians within the community, as well as the game itself of course. Maeve and I are still working out the details and look forward to discussing this with our 2 new co-hosts in the next few days.

For the time being, we've set up a Gmail account - NewEdenChronicles@Gmail.com - for you to send in your requests and suggestions. We're also working on other ways for you to communicate with us and will let you know about those as they become available.

We look forward to your feedback and hope to have our first podcast out within the next 2 weeks!

So stay tuned, and in the mean time, please join Maeve and I in welcoming Memoocan and Ardwulf to the New Eden Chronicles cast!

Fly safe!

New EVE Online podcast in the works! We're looking for co-hosts!

Some of you may know, if not most of you, that I was once the co-hosts of The Drone Bay, a podcast that saw 25 episodes published, and a 26th recorded but never released. My fellow co-hosts during those twenty-some episodes were none other than Crovan and Alsedrech, with Crovan as the main host of the show, working with Alsedrech providing invaluable knowledge on EVE's game mechanics, and I focusing on the ever growing EVE Blogging Community. The show had a tremendous success and was an integral part of my EVE experience for over a year.

When we relaunched the show in last April, with hopes of returning to a regular schedule shortly, the trio evolved in a quartet when the talented Maeve Trinity joined us 3 stooges! Unfortunately for our fans, for Maeve and for us, the relaunch failed to take place, and The Drone Bay never again saw a new episode after its 25th, the only one in which Maeve was a part of.

That couldn't be the end of it.

A little Voodoo Doll with that PvP? [Contest]

I was recently contacted by @String_Doll, who is one of the current sponsors of Hulkageddon III and the talent behind the particularly original, you'll have guessed, MyStringDolls.com. He was looking for some promotional opportunity and I thought, well, why not have a little contest and let you the reader get a chance to win one of those little cute voodoo doll, and at the same time help out a Internet entrepreneur!

This little contest will be quite simple. Your mission, if you accept, is to tell us "what's your favourite String Voodoo Doll and why?" Do so in the comments below and Ed (@String_Doll) will pick one winner and send them a doll of his choice. The runner-up would get a 10% discount code to purchase a doll. The contest is open from now until Friday, July 23rd (11:59:59) EDT.

The dolls seen above are just some of the example of the dolls you can pick as your favorite. Feel free to explore some more on his site MyStringDolls.com.

Good luck!

The Winners of the Women of EVE Contest are finally in!

In all these years running Banters and Contests, I have never seen such an overwhelming response and turn out. As such, narrowing down to just 10 entries proved to be far more difficult then I had originally expected. For the last few days, I have been starring at list of about 20 entries, unable to eliminate an entry and get the list down to the 10 winners. But it had to be done. I'll admit that the top 10 entries were randomly listed below; I just couldn't pick the best out of those 10 best entries. It's currently Tuesday 1:22AM (though I'm posting this on Monday!), my brain is shutting itself down, as I'm way past my bedtime!

So without further ado, here are the 10 winners of the "Women of EVE" Contest. Congratulations to all participants, and to these 10 bloggers in particular!
  1. The Ghost Report: Eve Blog Banter: The Girls Who Fly Spaceships
  2. “Prove It”: Women In EvE
  3. Blog Banter #17 – Women in Eve
  4. The Ladies of New Eden (An Analysis on How Men are not from Mars, & Women are not from Venus)

  6. Space Broker: Gal-Ristas!
  7. Tech 2 stilettos
  8. It's a woman's world (they just don't know it yet!)
  9. Ladies of New Eden
  10. Lady Vengeance, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Pew-Pew
And here is a reminder of the prizes you guys have just won!
  • 1st Place: $75 in EVE Store merchandise [and 100 million ISKs]
  • 2nd Place: $50 in EVE Store merchandise [and 100 million ISKs]
  • 3rd, 4th & 5th Place: $25 in EVE Store merchandise each [and 100 million ISKs each]
  • [Additional prizes for 6th to 10th place: 100 million ISKs each]

I'll drop a comment on each of the winners post later today and ask either update their entry mentioning their win (and their email address and character names), or doing so in a new post on their blog.

Other entries worth reading:
I wish I could have had the announcement sooner that today, but RL got in the way!

Fly safe all!

Steady as she goes Captain - Judgment begins for the Blog Banter Contest

When I initially launched the latest EVE Blog Banter Contest - The Ladies of New Eden - I expected to get roughly the same amount of entries as with previous popular banters - maybe 40. Or maybe even as much as the last Banter Contest which was about 60. But 80 entries? Not in my wildest dreams!

As such, I'm going to need a bit more time to go through all these entries and am pushing the winners announcement up to Friday May 7th, 2010 - tough if I can do it sooner, I will.

To make up for this delay, I've decided to bump up the number of winner to 10. Not only that, but Avalloc, one of the candidates for the 5th Council of Stellar Management, was kind enough to offer 1 Billion ISKs for all 10 winners!

So, to recap the Prizes to be awarded are:

  • 1st Place: $75 in EVE Store merchandise and 100 million ISKs
  • 2nd Place: $50 in EVE Store merchandise and 100 million ISKs
  • 3rd, 4th & 5th Place: $25 in EVE Store merchandise each and 100 million ISKs each
  • Prizes for 6th to 10th place are 100 million ISKs each
I hope this will make up for the delay, and that you'll bare with me as I ponder on who are the 10 best entries out of those 80 submitted!

The EVE Blog Banter #17 Special Edition: The Ladies of New Eden

Welcome to another special installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by myself, CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed to me. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!

Tyrannis Planetary Interaction Winners Announcement

Like any good miner looking out for some exotic and pricey minerals in his Covetor, I recently had the difficult tasks of reading through no less than 31 entries to the Tyrannis Planetary Interaction Contest. As always, the EVE Blogging Community did not disappoint. The entries were varied in their content, their approach, their opinion. Some were descriptive, some speculative, some bloggers approached the contest through fiction, other with lists and bullets.

All in all, narrowing it down to just 5 entries was a monumental effort, one which saw me scratching my head for some time, having to drop a few more great entries in order to choose the winners. In the end, the 5 entries below, were as varied in their approach and argumentation as one would expect from a healthy, organic and dynamic blogging community such as EVE Online has. Thanks to all who partook in this contest, and congratulations to the following 5 winners who will receive a PLEX, courtesy of CCP:
As for the lucky winner who will get to interview a CCP Dev during one of The Drone Bay podcast, the honour goes to Cailais of  The hydrostatic capsule who wrote the Let the Gods be Gods! entry. Congratulations again are in order!

To all 5 winners, in order to ensure that I'll in touch with the right individuals, I ask that you write a new post in which you mention that you've won the contest, in which you will provide me with an email to reach you at. I'll then confirm your prize through email, at the address you'll have provided.

Tyrannis: a Planetary Interaction Contest - Win a PLEX and a CCP Dev Interview!

Back in early August of 2009, I ran a contest based on "Planetary Control" where I asked you how you saw planetary interaction being implemented within EVE, how it should be approached and what possibilities this would open up to the capsuleers.

Remember, back then DUST 514 was barely a hint and a rumor which some of us had had a glimpse of at Fanfest 2008. The contest had a great turn out with over 15 participants. The winner of the event, @Xiphos83 (yes that's the same guy who had the idea for the Wallpaper contest) got a chance to interview CCP Hammerhead during a special edition of MicroWarpCast. The interview was a success and at lot of fun to put together.

Fast forward to today and Tyrannis, CCP's Planetary Interaction expansion is less than 2 months away. With all the creative juices in full swing within the EVE Blogging Community, this was the right time to focus all this energy once more! And so, I'm pleased to announced another Planetary Interaction Contest!

The EVE Online "Action" Wallpaper Contest Winners!

It's also with great pride and honor that we present to you the winners of our first Action Wallpaper Competition ! The judging took even more time, with much debate and arguing — whatever blood and tears were left after choosing the winners of the Scenic Wallpaper Winners were exhausted. And despite the fact that some profanity was definitely thrown back and forth between Nyphur, Xiphos83, and CrazyKinux, they surprisingly remain friends to this day!

All kidding aside, here are the winners for the Action Wallpapers.

First Place Winner of 500M ISK: Arukemos

First place wallpaper by Arukemos

Second Place Winner of 200M ISK: Lahlana

Third Place Winner of 50M ISK: Zach 101

Congrats to all the winners! You'll have the ISK transferred to your account shortly, once I escape the grip of the Jovians who are holding me in a secure location!

The EVE Online "Scenic" Wallpaper Contest Winners!

It's with great pride and honor that we present to you the winners of our first Scenic Wallpaper Competition! The judging took hours, much debate and arguing was put forth, blood and tears were produced and despite the fact that some profanity may have been thrown back and forth between Nyphur, Xiphos83 and CrazyKinux, they remain good friends! All kidding aside, here are the winners for the Scenic Wallpapers. A post on the Action Wallpaper Winners is coming up shortly!

First Place - Winner of 500M ISK: Cle Demaari

Second Place - Winner of 200M ISK: Tom Dreyfus

Third Place - Winner of 50M ISK: Charlotte Munt

Congrats to all the winners! You'll have the ISK transferd to your account shortly, unless I'm captured by the Jovians!

EVE Online Wallpaper Competition - Billions of ISKs at stake!

This is a guest post by Xiphos83 from A Misguided Adventurer. You can follow him @Xiphos83.

The EVE Online universe is a captivating and awe inspiring world to view. Wonderfully detailed ships, planets, and effects grace our screens and create a canvas of color rivaling many of the other MMOs out there. The changes CCP Games has made to the environment over the years have simply been stunning and it's time to do justice to this graphical wonder.

I, @Xiphos83 (formerly of A Misguided Adventurer) am teaming up with CrazyKinux to give away some always in demand ISKies and encourage capsuleers out there to put their creative caps on, take some screenshots and build wallpapers that we can grace our gaming machines with.

RULES:
  • The entry fees will be a measly 10 million ISKs to be transferred to the in-game character "CrazyKinux". Only those who have deposited their participation fees will be eligible for the draw.
  • The contest will require that you create a wallpaper of a minimum size of 1280 x 1024 in one of two categories from screenshots taken within EVE Online - Action or Scenic.
  • Themes: Action (being war, mining ops, ratting, etc) and Scenic (planets, stations orbiting moons, etc).
  • All images incorporated in the wallpapers must be from EVE. Whichever way you decide to incorporate your screenshots into the wallpaper is up to you, as long as you stick to the Scenic or Action theme.
  • You may submit one (1) wallpaper to each categories, but no more.
  • The judges will be Brendan of Massively, CrazyKinux, and Xiphos83.
  • Submissions will be gathered on one of CK's Flickr Set, where size, date of submission and artist will be mentioned (and linked back to whenever possible)
  • Contest ends on March 26th, 11:59 PM EDT.
Now comes the juicy part.

The entry fee will be a measly 10 million ISKs and the winners will split the pot! Additionally, CrazyKinux will donate 15 million ISKs to the pot and I, Xiphos83, will be donating 100 million ISKs. So even if we have 1 person apply, there's 175 million up for grabs. That's a few new ships with fittings to boot.

How to Submit:
1) Drop a comment on the post, with URL, character name. Or on this EVE Forum thread.
2) Transfer the 10 million ISK to my character "CrazyKinux"
3) Once you see your screenshot on my Flickr Set, you know your submission has been received and approved!

Additional Donators:
  • Crovan - 50 million ISKs
  • Krispy Dingo - 50 million ISKs
  • AnMiTh - 1 Billion ISKs (!!!!!) and a Free year of Lonetrek Hosting Coupon

You will have 14 days to submit your entries to CrazyKinux, so get out there, fire up your Velator of Doom, and start snapping photos!

Remember, the more participants, the bigger the prizes will be!

Good luck to you all!

[UPDATE: After much back and forth with the #tweetfleet and in view of your comments, we've decided to ask for a minimum size wallpaper (1280x1024). This way, almost everyone can partake in the competition and no one is left out!]
