Video news report of EVE Fanfest 2004

[This post is part of my EVE Online archives. While I no longer play, these community stories helped shape what I write about today—world-building, gaming culture, and digital communities. If you enjoyed this, you might like my latest piece on Star Wars, city-building games, or Dune.]

I've been toying with the idea of going to CCP's Fanfest since last year, and have tried to convince the wife that Iceland, despite the name, is a great substitute for a tropical vacation, especially in November.

There's good chance - hell who am I kidding - there's not a chance, that it'll be going to this year's fanfest though. So as a consolation prize, I've been hunting through the web, looking for interesting videos here and there, that could give me a chance to 'virtually live' part of the experience. A while back I found these videos from last year's fan fest. The video below which I only came across today, though in French, has some good interviews (in English) from the dev team of the 2004 fanfest. Ah the sweet memories of Exodus. --.....ok, if he says fan fest again we pod'em!...-

And this brings the following question to mind: will YOU be going to this year's fan fest in November? --.....ok, target locked!...-

Let me know, and if you've been, feel free to share your experience in the comments.

[I edited this post as I referred to it as last year's fan fest then realized it was the 2004 one]
