I'll be honest, when I first heard about this movie, and the game project behind it, I was very skeptical. The initial teaser was a piece of crap and didn't promise anything interesting. But then again, this was James Cameron, the guy behind Escape from New York, The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, as well as a favorite of mine, Aliens. We knew there was potential!
I have to say, this trailer looks pretty sweet! I'd love to know your thoughts though!

The beginning images look interesting, especially the technology space ship.
But the planetside visuals and avatars ... didn't appeal to me as much. The CGI seemed a bit on the cartoonish side.
Oh well. It is James Cameron.
Evil techno-humans attack peaceful low-tech society and get their butts kicked.
Yawn. Seen this trope . . . . .about 100 times now?
The visuals do look nice, but the story could use a bit of originality, IMO.
Ok, this is not a trailed for Avatar: The last Airbender is it? Cause that's what I thought you were all talking about.
Been waiting for this one for a long time. It's supposed to look amazing in 3D. The trailer looks very interesting, and there are mechas so thats a win right there.
Ok, so this is about some Starship Trooper types vs. a horde of elves (tall&skinny - check... pointy ears - check... shooting bows - check... blue - Ok!)? And it's gonna be good?
No amount of mechs will save this one I fear...
The ending? Oh, naturally the peaceful overgrown smurfs win against all odds and live happily ever after while the dudes with the mechs firing 6k depleted uranium rounds per minute go home to think about why they lost against some dudes with bows. The plot will probably be a bit more interesting than this... One. Bit. I think.
i'll be watching it
Remember guys that the script for the movie was written way bay in '94. Before Starship Trooper (the movie), before Wow (and the blue elves).
And yes, it may be a battle between technology and nature, but so was (and is) the Lord of the Ring Trilogy, and that was still interesting.
Ever the optimist, I still have my hopes up that this movie will be good. Crosses me fingers!!
The title font is very similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'm not sure how that is going to work as a live action movie, but I am looking forward to it. I'll pass on this.
Hehheh, actually, Starship Troopers the Novel was written in 1959.
But I agree, after watching the trailer a few more times I'm OK with the fact that this might be interesting after all. We'll see...
@Brutus - Oh, believe me when I say that I knew Mr Heinlein's novel came out in 59'. Am a big fan of his works.
What I meant was that the "movie" came out in the nineties. Should have been a bit more accurate though, you're totally right!
