Endings Are Also The Beginnings of Something New...

Or so the Semisonic song goes. And that's exactly what's about to happen to Treenara. Rest asssured I'm not leaving EVE. My recent sporadic presence in the EVE universe, whether in-game or out, is the results of RL pressure, both personal and professional. As such, I've had to make some hard decisions, set my priorities and put in place a new plan of action.

When you're as busy both in you personal, professional and virtual life, you've got to plan things, ahead of time, or else you fall short of accomplishing anything. The last month or so is proof enough. I'm now using Google Calendar, Google Docs, an alarm clock and a towel to make sure that doesn't happen again! 42 FTW!

As such, I've made the decision to leave Phoenix Labs, a corporation I've been for the most part of my EVE career. Not an easy decision. The change comes at a time where I'm looking for something different, and carebearing isn't it. And so, I've decided to join Letrange, Cozmik R5 and the rest of the boys at ChaosStorm Corporation. This carebear is going to grow some fangs! That's all I'll say about the change for now. But expect a lot more on this in future posts.

In other matters, I'm still working on choosing the winners of the Women of EVE Contest, despite what the naysayers will tell you. Expect the winners to be announced on Monday the 14th. Or else, I'll donate my body to The Blood Raiders Covenant. There, happy!

I'm also working on a bunch of other side projects such as 2 book reviews, the next blog banter, a Speedlink mega-post, cleaning up the Blogroll and adding new blogs - yes I got your requests! - adding to the Blog Pack & much, much more. All in good time!

Going planetside for a short while...

As I write this, all are asleep in the CK household. In less then 4 hours we'll be heading for the airport, leaving for a region of our blue dot where the sun shines and the air is humid. And for the next 7 days, I will have no access to the hassle and bustle of the Intertubes.

Unfortunately, the things I had planned to do before leaving are left unfinished. The winners of the Women of EVE have yet to be chosen, the next Blog Banter, which I wanted to do for EVE's 7th anniversary, is left in limbo. So much to do, so little time to do it in!

But do not despair, I shall return to New Eden, to its hyperactive Community and shall finish what was started, continue what needs to be worked on, and put in motions what has yet to see the day.

See you shortly my friends!

The Top Ten Commandments of the Capsuleer Parent

Every EVE Online player who became a parent during his capusleer career, knows how difficult it can sometimes be to juggle a professional career, a marriage and children, while giving in to the calling of New Eden. But with time, through sheer effort and good planning, it can be done. I know, I've struggled myself to manage to do all of the above, but I'm still here, playing the game, blogging about it and having a great time doing it, despite the occasional trolls!

How do I do it? Well over time I've come up with a few basic rules that seem to work for me. And so I wanted to share them with you, and see what you yourselves can come up with!
  1. Thou shall put real-life first. Always!
  2. Thy children shall always come before the pod
  3. Nighttime shall become my best friend
  4. Thou shall master the art of flying a ship while changing a diaper
  5. A game schedule thou shall agree upon with thy better-half
  6. Thou shall learn the EVE Bushido of the Parent Warrior
  7. EVEMon shall be installed on every PC I can come in contact with
  8. Thou shall know all the ins and outs of of the EVE Skill Planner
  9. ...
  10. ...
I didn't want to finish the list, not because I ran out of steam or ideas, but simply because I want you to add the last two! Come on!
