TRON LEGACY - Official Trailer #2

Very few movies had as much impact in nurturing my inner Geek as much as Wargames and TRON. As I explained to a friend earlier today, back in the early 80s I had very friends to share my passion for TRON. Personal computers and the networks that were about to connect them all were not things pre-teens were known to discuss, much less take pride in having an interest in.

Fast forward 30 years, and the situation has flipped completely; a 180 in the perception of Geeks! This coming December, there will be one such Geek enjoying the benefits of this cultural shift!

Friday Video: Star Wars - I.M.P.S. the Relentless

Out of the 6 Star Wars films, there are only 2 I hold way up high as some of the ultimate science fiction movies: Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. I never liked the Ewoks and Jar Jar can go where the moon don't shine! But, having recently come across the IMPS series, I've gotta say, this is definitely my kind of Star Wars!

Now, if anyone could do something like that within the EVE lore, I'd love to see it! Hell I'd even pay to see it!

Robota: one robot movie I really wish got made!

I can't recall the first time I laid eyes on Robota, but I do remember that I was blown away by what I was looking at! In 2003, the illustrated book by Doug Chiang and Orson Scott Card about a mysterious fourth planet of the solar system named Orpheus was published. The book is a work of art, literally!

Unfortunately, there have been few updates to Chiang's website since late 2005, and no recent news about the movie. The following clip were dug up, but I don't know if they're unique works, or part of an actual movie. In today's CGI movie, I just don't understand why this movie project never moved beyond the early stages.

If you've got any information, I'd love to know more!

EVE Online: The Motion Picture

Gotcha! Ok, I'll admit, this was link baiting at its best, or worse.

But, to be honest when I saw the first few seconds of this Star Trek trailer, I had a vision of what an EVE Online movie would look like - think Caldari military factory. And it looked gorgeous. Still, the trekkie in me died long ago, sometime after Star Trek IV.
This latest installment might get me to dish out some hard won cash though, and see it when it comes out. I'll have to learn a bit more about the story though.

Crazy Monday: Sigg Jones CG Movie

Mondays, back to work, to school, maybe a stressful time for some of us. So starting this week, I've taken upon me to add a bit of diversity and fun to this mostly EVE Online blog. It's kind of ironic that I would choose Labour Day, a Monday which is off for most of my readers to start, still, I've decided to have this new weekly post series every Monday to share with you the oddities that I come across in my meanderings.

For this first Crazy Monday post, here is a great CG Movie made by 3 students at Supinfocom School in France: Sigg Jones. I would love to see one made for EVE - a bit of in station ambulation and ship combat. Now that would be great!
