The Making of Tron: Legacy (2010)

Tron: Legacy, the sequel to the 1982 science fiction classic Tron, was a solid follow-up that built upon the strengths of the original while also taking advantage of advancements in technology to create a visually stunning world that was a natural evolution of the original's vision.

One of the key strengths of Tron: Legacy was its ability to build upon the themes and concepts introduced in the original film. Like the first film, Tron: Legacy explored the idea of a virtual world where programs take on lives of their own, and the relationship between the users who created the world and the programs who inhabit it. However, Tron: Legacy expanded upon these ideas, exploring the relationship between the creator of the virtual world, Kevin Flynn, and his son Sam, who is drawn into the world and must confront the legacy of his father's work.

Here is a music video from the up coming movie TRON LEGACY, featuring original music by Daft Punk and a cameo of them. There is also a cameo of Michael Sheen in this clip looking like some crazy cool David Bowie from the Tron world.

TRON LEGACY - Official Trailer #2

Very few movies had as much impact in nurturing my inner Geek as much as Wargames and TRON. As I explained to a friend earlier today, back in the early 80s I had very friends to share my passion for TRON. Personal computers and the networks that were about to connect them all were not things pre-teens were known to discuss, much less take pride in having an interest in.

Fast forward 30 years, and the situation has flipped completely; a 180 in the perception of Geeks! This coming December, there will be one such Geek enjoying the benefits of this cultural shift!

I can barely control my glee!

Iron Man 2 - The Latest Trailer

Not too many movies into the "cool techno geek" group, but Iron Man, and most likely its sequel do. Judging from the following trailer - the 2nd one - Iron Man 2 looks very promising! I for one, look forward to it!

For that matter TRON has that same effect on me! Looking forward to that trailer being released. Which I know should be soon; as in by the end of the week!

Friday Video: TRON, then and now!

When TRON first came out I was 11. My dad had just bought our first PC, an Apple IIe with two 5.25" floppy disk drives. No mouse, no GUI, no Internet, no web. TRON and WarGames were the first two movies to open my imagination to the networked world, as well as to video gaming, virtual worlds and a plethora of other computer-based concepts.

With the recent release of the trailer for TRON Legacy, I just couldn't pass the opportunity to share my excitement with all of you! Here are three videos. First the TRON Legacy trailer, next a similar lightbike scene from the original TRON, and last but not least, the TRON Legacy Comic Con 2009 promo video.

Enjoy!
