The 5-Bullet Weekly Wrap-Up

Artwork is "Sleeping Beauty" by Exidium Corp - via ArtStation.

I've been reading and following Tim Ferriss for a number of years now, and I'd figured that I'd leverage his idea of the "5-Bullet Friday" and do some weekly wrap-ups.

Robots and Murder
What I'm reading - "Robots and Murder: The Caves of Steel/ The Naked Sun/ Robots of Dawn"
I've finished rereading "The Caves of Steel" and am halfway through the 2nd Robot novel. As always I loving the literary style taken by Asimov and his strong dialogues. But I can't deny that the little (and sometimes major) technology fumbles aren't pulling me out of the story from time to time. Still, I'm enjoying the story and the concept of AI and humanoid robots.

Dual Universe
What I'm listening to - "The Dual Universe Soundtracks from Maxime Ferrieu"
I've been following Novaquark and their Dual Universe game development for a little over two years now. In their most recent newsletter, they mention the release of six new tracks. I've got to say I'm loving the ambiance and galactic breadth of the track - perfect for immersing yourself in a good sci-fi novel.

LG LCD Monitor
What I've recently purchased - "LG Black 27" 5ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight Monitor"
It's been quite sometime since I've wanted to upgrade my current monitor. So at the end of 2015, I made the move and purchased the gorgeous 27MP77HM LG 27" monitor and haven't looked back! The previous 23" monitor I had for the last, what 4 or 5 years, now seems tiny in comparison. And the new monitor allows me to plug in both my PC and my Xbox360. Call me a happy camper!

G.SKILL RAM
What I've got my eye on - "G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2"
So now that I've got a bit more real estate in terms of visuals, my next upgrade to my old 7 year old PC gaming rig, is upgrading my RAM from 8GB to the maximum allowed by my mobo, a whopping 16GB of RAM, thus DOUBLING what I currently have. The only issue, the price: a big fat $470! Ouch.

My most popular tweet over the last week - "The one about activating my EVERSPACE Forum account"

Week 32 Wrap-Up

"Cities Of The Future" by Jonas De Ro (DeviantArt - Facebook)
What a better way to get back into blogging than to do a wrap-up of the last week's links, articles and videos of interest. I intend to do these once a week, just like I did with my "EVE Online Speedlinking" posts.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to comment and post links that you came across over the last week, and which I will have most surely missed.

In the hopes of cleaning up this blog's real state, I've decided to move over some of the links I provide in the right-column to actual posts - just as I did years ago with the EVE Blogroll and the Guides.

Speedlinking for the week-end of December 11th, 2010

The last 2 weeks have been crazy in RL, but never the less I'm slowly getting ready to get back into the game. I'm about to get ready to get into some 1vs1 PvP with a folks who responded to my plea for a sensei. So I should I some interesting news and postings in the next few days. But for now, here's the latest articles that have come to my attention:

Speedlinking for the week-end of November 27th, 2010

Those of you who have been long time readers, know that I use to have this regular series of post called the Speedlinks, where I would provide a list of posts, articles and videos related to EVE Online in some way or another, or in some cases, not at all.

I'm happy to tell you that the series is back, thanks to the ease with which Google Chrome allows me to track and collect these bookmarks over the last week. So without further ado, and in no particular order, here are those links:

CK's Friday Speedlinks for August 20th, 2010

As summer slowly comes to an end and the cool winds of autumn start to make themselves felt at night, it's time a shake down of this blog. Regular readers will have noticed that its been a while since my last post. Some might wonder what's happening with this blog, now that I've left the EVE Blog Pack. All I can say for now is that all these changes are for the good. More on that later.

For now, here's a an updated post series that used to be known as "EVE Speedlinking for...". I've indeed decided to rework the formula and bring you a different more diverse speedlinking experience. This new series will have lots of EVE Online content of course, but will allow me to post links to anything that's peaked my curiosity; whether EVE-related, scifi-related or just plain cool geek stuff.

Hope you enjoy this first of many!

The ever expanding EVE Blogosphere! - Part 11

Another shot to the EVE Blogroll listing. Not as many as in previous updates, but that's understandable. Thanks to the help of two dedicated and very helpful readers, I'll soon be cleaning out the dead links in the list; removing blogs that no longer exist, or are simply dead.

And did you know we're Saturday today, not Sunday! Yeah I know, I went OMG another day off! Seems the brain gets confused if you take a Friday off! So enjoy the rest of the day, and your Sunday too! And welcome to these new EVE Bloggers!

The State of Pod: EVE Online Podcast Listing

Over the last few years, EVE Online has seen quite a few number of great podcasts done by its player community. Some, like Winterblink's and Urban Mongral's Warp Drive Active, have been around for over 3 years now!

If like me, you've been trying to keep track and find a list of ALL these podcasts, well I've decided to put a little research into it and put together such a list. I myself have had the opportunity to partake in 2 of these, The Drone Bay and Micro Warp Cast. Unfortunately, both these shows have come to an end. As of this writing, the last Drone Bay podcast recorded has yet to see the light, and may never.

[UPDATE:  See the comment below. Seems that Crovan is back, and we may see some development re The Drone Bay! Will keep you posted!] As for Micro Warp Cast, the podcast I had started with @YoMma, it unfortunately suffered the fate. Sometimes RL can be a harsh Mistress.

Please feel free to let me know of other past or current EVE Podcasts, and I'll make sure to add them here. Just leave me a comment. Also, this post is a work in progress as I plan to add old and current podcasts, and add their blogs, sites or Facebook Fan pages if they exist. Now if, you'll excuse me, I have a not-so-secret podcast project I have to work on...

Terra incognita: Setting off for Wormhole Space

Over the last few days I've been gathering all my belongings into one system near Bourynes, some 27 jumps away where I was stationed with Phoenix Labs. Suffice to say that the enterprise has been very time consuming, though not what I would call boring. Indeed, I've used this time to accumulate a plethora (damn I love that word!) of links, guides and tutorials that will be useful to me as I join my corp, Chaosstorm, in wormhole space.

During this transition, I've queued up a long list of skills I'll need as I enter this terra incognita: astrometric skills, probing and other scanning skills...

In trying to share all this information with you, I've put together the following list of guides and links that I've come across in my InterTubes exploration. Please let me know in the comments below of other links you've found helpful.

        As always, fly safe!

The ever expanding EVE Blogosphere! - Part 9

Still some more EVE Blogs to add the EVE Player Blogroll, though soon, I'll be removing quite a few number from the full list. Indeed, recently I've received help for some fine folks to help me weed out the old, outdated blogs from the master list. Expect this to happen soon (tm)!

In the mean time, lets welcome these new EVE Bloggers!
        1. Blastrad tales
        2. Confessions of a Closet Carebear

The ever expanding EVE Blogosphere! - Part 8

With the six new blogs below and the last two updates, I've just added a total of 33 new blogs to the EVE Player Blogroll! Though I'd need to do a bit of a clean-up to weed out the inactive or dead links (anyone willing to take on the project?), that's still quite a lot of EVE Blogs! Welcome to all these new bloggers!

The Winners of the Women of EVE Contest are finally in!

In all these years running Banters and Contests, I have never seen such an overwhelming response and turn out. As such, narrowing down to just 10 entries proved to be far more difficult then I had originally expected. For the last few days, I have been starring at list of about 20 entries, unable to eliminate an entry and get the list down to the 10 winners. But it had to be done. I'll admit that the top 10 entries were randomly listed below; I just couldn't pick the best out of those 10 best entries. It's currently Tuesday 1:22AM (though I'm posting this on Monday!), my brain is shutting itself down, as I'm way past my bedtime!

So without further ado, here are the 10 winners of the "Women of EVE" Contest. Congratulations to all participants, and to these 10 bloggers in particular!
              1. The Ghost Report: Eve Blog Banter: The Girls Who Fly Spaceships
              2. “Prove It”: Women In EvE
              3. Blog Banter #17 – Women in Eve
              4. The Ladies of New Eden (An Analysis on How Men are not from Mars, & Women are not from Venus)
              5. Cloaked and Watching You: The Ladies of New Eden
              6. Space Broker: Gal-Ristas!
              7. Tech 2 stilettos
              8. It's a woman's world (they just don't know it yet!)
              9. Ladies of New Eden
              10. Lady Vengeance, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Pew-Pew
And here is a reminder of the prizes you guys have just won!
              • 1st Place: $75 in EVE Store merchandise [and 100 million ISKs]
              • 2nd Place: $50 in EVE Store merchandise [and 100 million ISKs]
              • 3rd, 4th & 5th Place: $25 in EVE Store merchandise each [and 100 million ISKs each]
              • [Additional prizes for 6th to 10th place: 100 million ISKs each]

I'll drop a comment on each of the winners post later today and ask either update their entry mentioning their win (and their email address and character names), or doing so in a new post on their blog.

              Other entries worth reading:
I wish I could have had the announcement sooner that today, but RL got in the way!

              Fly safe all!
