The Safe Spot — Episode 9: "Featuring Oz"

Hey everyone, we're back after what felt like forever. I got pulled into the Habs' Stanley Cup run (no shame, that was a hell of a series for our Montreal Canadiens), and we finally sat down for episode 9 with our very first official guest: Oz. 

Both Rixx and I were genuinely stoked about opening the format up to guests, and even more so that Oz agreed to be the first one through the door. I came in with way too many questions lined up like a checklist, and Rixx, true to form, just rolled with the conversation in full Buccaneer bravado. 

Very different styles, yet somehow it worked. 

Who is Oz?

Oz is one of EVE Online's go-to voices on the in-game economy. He's been around since 2004, took a long break, and came back during the pandemic to start streaming on Twitch — where he now runs The Oz Report, a weekly market analysis show that's become required viewing for traders and industrialists in New Eden. 

Outside Twitch, he's on YouTube, runs an active trading Discord, and maintains theoz.space, a Bloomberg-style dashboard for the EVE market. He's just wrapped his third (and final) term on the CSM as the resident economic specialist, hosted FanFest 2026 on the official Twitch stream, and took home the creator award for best podcast this year. 

Real-life day job: data aggregation at a German company — which, once you've met him, makes a lot of sense.

We talked FanFest from the host side, the slow professionalization of the creator program, his actual day-one origin story, the two ways people fall into market gameplay (and why most of them burn out), and a pretty generous tool list for anyone wanting to try trading without rage-quitting in a week. 

No theme per se, no agenda really. It simply went where it went, which is how Rixx and I like it.
