The New Eden Banter: EVE Blog Banter returns (2026 reboot)

Some traditions deserve a reboot.

Back in 2008, I kicked off something called the EVE Blog Banter—with a monthly email that invited bloggers to write, reflect, argue, and occasionally confess their in-game sins. The format was simple: one shared topic, many voices, and a roundup so everyone could discover each other.

I ran it for two and a half years (26 editions), then passed it to other EVE bloggers who kept it going. By the time I wrote my last entry—#68, back in October 2015—the community had produced almost 70 banters worth of arguments, stories, and insights.

Fast-forward to 2026. The platforms changed. The "blogging is dead" takes have multiplied. And yet... here we are. A few of us are still writing about EVE. Still sharing our virtual lives.

Still building corners of the internet worth visiting.

So I'm bringing it back.

EVE Blog Banter returns as: The New Eden Banter (NEB).

How it works

Every month, I'll publish a short post (let's call it a prompt) to invite those willing to participate to write about one topic or question about an aspect of the game. I'm thinking that initially I'll be the one coming up with the topics to discuss—but eventually I'm hoping the community will send suggestions.

The ask: you write a response on your blog. I collect the links and publish a roundup at the end of my post, and ask that you do the same. This way readers can hop from blog to blog like it's 2008 again!

Who can join?

If you have a blog, you're in:

  • EVE veteran or fresh capsuleer, it doesn't matter
  • Lore enthusiast, PvP junkie, industry spreadsheet devotee, or chaos tourist
  • Writing on an EVE blog, gaming blog, sci-fi blog, or "my brain has tabs" personal blog

The only requirement: genuinely respond to the prompt.

The rules (all three of them)

  1. Deadline: I'll include a cutoff date in every post invite. Miss it? You might land in the "late arrivals" add-on.
  2. Link submission: Comment on the prompt post with your link OR post it on Bluesky and tag me.
  3. Be cool: Disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks aren't.

Longer posts, shorter posts, whatever language you're comfortable in—all fine.

Why do this in 2026?

Because feeds are forgetful.

A monthly prompt is a reason to stop scrolling, write something with a beginning and an end, and actually read other people's stuff. It's the internet we keep saying we miss, rebuilt one post at a time.

Also: New Eden is too weird, too brilliant, and too full of stories to keep locked in Discord channels and local chat.

So when do we start!

Posts go live the first Monday of each month. I'll publish the prompt one week before that, giving you time to write.

The first NEB prompt drops February 23rd—that's Monday next week. You'll have a week to write you post, and then we all publish our post on that first Monday of the month. You then share the link to it with me in the comments of my banter, and I'll add you to the list of participants on my post.

Want in?

Comment below with your blog link—or just watch for the prompt next week and jump in when it lands.

Either way, I'm genuinely curious who shows up.

Let's make some noise. The good kind.
