The end is the beginning of something new...

I have played. I have blogged. I have podcasted. I have done all those things and more. I have lived through the day and seen the shadow of night set its blanket over the horizon. But I have seen the light. I know that a new dawn lies ahead of the darkness of night. And it will rise again.

He who has never fallen, will never know the meaning of standing.

Okay, cut the romantic prose, and get to the point you may be asking. What the hell is he talking about?

I'm talking about this blog. About the game. And mostly about continuity.

I've been blogging about gaming and EVE Online for over 4 years now. At first it was a minimal; a post a month. Then I got more into it. Then it became a habit. Then a passion.

But when you pour your heart and soul into something you eventually run the risk of forgetting what it is you were doing in the first place, and why you were doing it. And the it all comes crashing down.

Then they start to point the finger at you. They start to say that you're a quitter. That it's the beginning of the end.

Then you say the hell with'em! You raise a knee and push your self back up, and dust your self up. You look around. See what you've accomplished and get back on the train.

You may think I'm writing this to explain myself. To justify my absence. I'm not. I'm simply standing back up, dusting myself, and getting back on the train.

Life's not planned. It throws curved balls at you. Some you're able to avoid, some not. But you go on. You persevere.

Blogging is similar.

The end is the beginning of something new... ...it's good to be back!

Real Life - happens to even best of us :-)

Nothing to it, it's nice to have you back.

I think most of us can (should!) understand and appreciate that RL always goes first.

See you in space!

A blag isn't for the readers. It's for the enjoyment of the author. The author isn't beholden by any means to post on a regular schedule; it's entirely his business the frequency of entries are made.

I've felt guilty in the past for not making entries in a timely 2-3 day pattern, but honestly, why should I drag myself down with a schedule? I post when I have quality material and when I feel like I want to hit submit. It ain't so much for the reader, but for me.

Nice to have you back, it very natural to take a step back every now and then, repower your engines so to speak :).

Indeed it is good to see you back! I know only too well how life has a habit of creeping up on you when you least expect it. Fly safe.

It's good to see you back mate, but don't worry.

We all have real life issues that get in the way sometimes.

I've not been online a lot lately mainly because of real life. Remember, EVE and related blogging is a hobby and if anyone ever give you a hard time for not being around, tell them off mate.

You put so much work into EVE and your blogging that people take for granted that you are providing a service to the community out of your free time and money.

People need to appreciate that and cut you some slack!!

Welcome back mate!!

Good to see you back in the scene. I was fearing halfway reading this that it would be a final goodbye post or something O_O

Good to hear that you're still around. At the start there, it almost seemed like a leaving speech.

Hi CK,

Eve and your blogging, whilst they are passions, are also only hobbies... if they become more like a job then there is no fun. RL always comes first (if it doesn't then THAT is when you should start worrying) so don't stress when some crazy, who doesn't have much of a life gives you grief.

The majority of your readers/listeners appreciate the time and effort that you put into the blog roll, this site, and the podcasts. Thank you! Keep it rolling and if you get hammered by RL again, just drop the rest of us a note so that we know that you are still alive.

Cheers

Devren
