I had one of those “wait… what year is it?!” moments this week: I discovered that my old podcast co-host, Crovan, has brought The Drone Bay back… on YouTube.
The Drone Bay... The Drone WHAT?!!!
Originally, The Drone Bay was one of the early EVE podcasts way back in spring 2008, and seeing it resurface in 2024 hit me right in the nostalgia module.
(What's with all these nostalgic post recently? Jeez, enough already!)
And yeah — this one’s personal for me, since I was part of that first iteration, alongside Crovan and Alsedrech, back when it was audio-only and we were just a few EVE nerds with mics trying to make sense of New Eden. The amount of time we put into the recordings, editing and marketing of that original series was borderline obsessive. But the fun, man the fun we had putting these together.
Anyways, back to this new iteration...
So, Crovan’s already got nine “Drone Bay Podcast” episodes up on the channel (so far). And he’s clearly not stopping there — the channel’s also home to a bunch of other EVE videos beyond the podcast format. All great content for EVE players!
To be super clear: I was not involved in this relaunch. But I’m genuinely excited anyway, 'cause Crovan has always had that deep, practical, battle-tested EVE knowledge that makes you smarter just by listening. Another generation of capsuleers getting access to that? Yeah. That’s a win for our favourite internet spaceship game.
Now… here’s the part that got me a little worried: even though he’s posted newer videos since, the last actual Drone Bay Podcast episode dropped in late June 2024. Add to that, the last 4 episodes were hard to find as they are not listed in the videos listing! Which means it’s been long enough that CONCORD is probably drafting a wellness check. Does anyone have news from Crovan or Tharus?
In the meantime, I’m listing below every Drone Bay episode he’s posted so far — from the most recent (episode 9) all the way back to the first — so you can binge it like to learn the ins and outs of New Eden.
