EVE Online Collectible Battleship Models are coming!

Ever since I first laid eyes on one of EVE's ship, I've wanted to have a scale model version of one. That was over 5 years ago, but today, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Today, the EVE Online Store is being shutdown to make place for a new and improved store, and in the process, CCP will finally be introducing Collectible Battleship Models for each of the 4 races.

I first came upon this story when Winterblink wrote a post about some model ship pictures popping up on the Chinese EVE website. Low and behold those rumors were true!

Now, the question is, which one to get? Cause at $125 a piece, these things aren't cheap! Maybe that 15% discount CCP is offering before the end of September will be enough to tempt a few of us.

I would love that Megathron model but $125 is pushing it a bit. My dog would probably eat it the day it arrived.

I have to say, the idea of owning a model like this is a very tempting one, but at those prices (which I understand, I'm sure these things were not cheap to make) I'm not sure I can afford one :S

Yeah, it's a bit steep for a plastic model of a virtual ship. Try explaining that one to your better-half!

Then again, my birthday is coming up, and Xmas is just around the corner. =)

I really hope they have more than just battleships. I want a Rifter (or ideally a Firetail).

I hope this paves the way for the other classes of ships. :)

I love EVE but you'd need to be a real fanatic or have deep pockets to justify one of these. Though if they offered a Machariel, I'd probably be tempted.

Main issue is that they're now getting shipped from America... fine for all the americans out there, but for those international customers, what happens if the thing gets damaged in transit - its a lot of cash to splash on something made of resin/plastic which is hardly the most durable of material to begin with. Would be interesting to see their returns policy considering it would take a fortnight or more to get it out to you and back again to them.

I guess a FEW is the key here ;). Mainly you spend a lot for something thats going to catch dust after the initial AAAAAWWW NICE wears off.
