Out of Eden: Jumpgate Evolution Trailer

Another interesting Space MMO is gearing up towards Beta. That's a second original IP Space Combat MMO to compete for the genre with EVE Online (SGO, SWG and STO aren't original IPs). And that's all the for the better if you ask me. There are some important game play differences between the 3, so there's a good chance that the game may cater to different sets of gamers, or fill two different sets of needs. We wish them both good luck!

I found the above video here at Rock, Paper, Shotgun which is a great gaming site where I get a lot of my general gaming news these days. Thanks guys for the great work! keep it up!

Stargate Worlds is also getting ready for closed beta; what's with all the space MMOs these days? Not that I'm complaining!

That's what I meant when I wrote SGO (Stargates Online). Though I may have made an error in the name it seems.

As for the Space MMO, maybe developers are finally understanding that there's a limit to how many dwarvs and elves one can take!

Thanks for dropping by Nick!

Doesn't look nearly as good as EVE, but i will give it a try when it comes out.

CK - I always enjoy reading you blog, and hearing the carebear side of EVE on The DB. Keep it up!

Most of what I've seen of this title is cartoonish. I'll give it a try, and I'm sure the dogfighting will be fun, but I just don't see this having the depth of EVE -- which for me, is a major draw. I think this will be a good fit for a number of gamers who don't like the way combat works in EVE, who want something closer to a hybrid MMO/piloting game.

It's way too soon to judge the game as it's not even in beta yet, but like what was said above - it's good to have choices in the sci-fi genre. I've never really been able to get into fantasy titles. WAR might be an exception though.

@Zombiefly - Agreed, EVE's got that darker edge to it. And thanks for the vote of confidence! I'll try to keep the carebear flame alive and kicking!

@James - The dogfights will be interesting to see. More choice usually means the customers wins in the end as better products are offered to him. EVE can only become better with the presence of these new competing games.

Don't forget Black Prophecy (http://www.black-prophecy.com), by the Neocron guys. Sadly they are having funding difficulties, but they might just make it.

Not an MMO, but a great online space action game that I used to play years ago, which is now free: http://www.freeallegiance.org.
