Mr. Invisible: 50 days to Covert Operations!

As I've recently mentioned, I'm currently training to play a different role within Phoenix Labs. I'm also tired of getting stranded in low sec or on the other side of a gate camp. Flying incognito seems like a sexy way of moving around New Eden. Screw the Pirates! :p

Using EVE Mon (@EVEMon), and based on the advice from far more knowledgeable pilots than I, I've put together the following skill plan. This includes the skills needed to fly the best reviewed Helios loadout (as provide in EVE Mon). I've been "informed" by this favorite utility of mine, that I should train some more Learning skills in order to save 5 days of total training. OK, then, but they're still boring skills!

I've put in a request to the Phoenix Labs Corp Request Department, and should be receiving 7 skill books I'm missing. Until I get those, I'm training Electronic Warfare IV. Which finishes in 35 minutes actually, and though I know I've got another skill in my queue, I just can't remember it now. Thank god for the EVE Training Queue! I've been dreaming of that forever!

I'll be able to fly the Helios as a Covert Ops pilot sooner than in the 50 days needed to train all these skills. In a month and a half from now, I'll just be impossible to find! Call me Mr. Invisible!

Anyways, your advice, comments and praises are always welcomed! Here's the 50 day queue:
  1. Logic I
  2. Focus I
  3. Logic II
  4. Focus II
  5. Logic III
  6. Electronics Upgrades V
  7. Covert Ops I

40 New EVE Online Blogs: How's that for a healthy Blogging Community

Following my recent addition of 23 new EVE Online blogs, here I go adding another 40. Ok, so removing the 5 outdated blogs, we're still adding 35 active blogs. That's pretty amazing, considering EVE "only" has 300,000 players! I do realize that some of the blogs below aren't necessarily "new". They just were'nt on my list, and so are "new" to the list.

Before I let you go through the list, I want to thank Ga'len, the wandering druid of tranquility, without who's help I could not have update this list as I have done over the last few days! Thanks again mate!

EVE Online Speedlinking for February 2nd, 2009

It's been over 5 weeks since my last Speedlinking post; a long wait for those of you who relied on these gatherings of EVE News. I apologize for the wait. Contrary to what some of you believed, Speedlinking is back, and is here to stay! Not only will I continue to cover EVE news, but I'll focus on covering what the EVE blogging community is writing and discussing. I'll still cover stories from our friends at Massively, Ten Ton Hammer or MMORPG.com, but the focus of the Speedlinking posts will be EVE Blogs, EVE podcasts and Dev Blogs.

Speaking of blogs, there's been an explosion of EVE Blogs over those 5 weeks. Nothing less than 20 new EVE blogs have be started. I'm still in the process of adding them to the EVE Blogroll, but in the mean time, please visit them using the links below!

The articles listed below only cover the last week or so. I couldn't list every interesting article publish over my absence, or else this post would have been 5 or 6 times longer. By focusing on the EVE Blogs, I'll be able to quickly put together these posts in order to have them done weekly. Thanks for your understanding.

I'm happy to be back with the Speedlinks and look forward to continue the EVE Blog coverage!

Enjoy!

EVE Online Speedlinking for December 31st, 2008

Well here we are. The last Speedlinking post of 2008. Well it is for me and some of the folks west of the North American east coast. I'm working on a review of the past year, so I won't go into many details and wishes to you all. That'll be in tomorrow morning's post. So without further delays, here are the last links of '08! Enjoy!

EVE Online Speedlinking for December 19th, 2008

It's been 2 weeks now since my last Speedlink post and a lost has been going on - both in EVE and RL. The biggest news of the past 2 weeks has been the Starbase Exploit, which seems to be bigger than originally thought (by yours truly anyways). As always, CCP and the EVE Community will weather the storm, and will come out stronger as a result. Within a few days, we'll leave 2008 behind us, and embrace the New Year. And with it, new patches, new content, a new retail client and much more!

Just to keep you updated on my situation, over the last week, I've worked on adding new blogs to the EVE Blogroll, trying to compile the EVE Fanfest contest results, writing an EON article on the Fanfest, and some more. Oh and trying to play the game, cause you know, that's the whole idea eh!

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and am proud to see that the EVE Blogging Community has been hard at work providing you with amazing content over the last few weeks. Show them your love by dropping by their blogs and leaving as many comments as you can! They'll appreciate!

Now on to the links!

EVE Online Speedlinking for December 5th, 2008

I'll be honest, this week I'm a tad more focused on RL, than on EVE. Despite this, and having gone through the EVE Blogsphere articles, I have to say the activity is not subsiding at all, and I'm quite happy to share the links below.

Also, this week we've got 8 new blogs added to the EVE Blogroll, for a grand total of 134. Now, I do know that I promised a clean-up of the list, which may, or may not reduce the total amount. At the very least you may see a few "Out of Date" or "No longer Active" appear next to some blogs. I'm on it, like Obama on Change!

EVE Online Speedlinking for November 28th, 2008

This is my last Speedlinking list before going back to work. And though it's dated on the 28th, I'm actually posting this one on Sunday the 30th. My bad. Let's just say the last few days were busy, but I still wanted the post to be dated on the Friday.

This last week has seen some nice link on the Fanfest still, as well as our second EVE Blog Banter series. Also, 4 new EVE blogs were added to the Blogroll, for a new total of 126 blogs! Finally, I'm still working on the editing of the latest MicroWarpCast show, and I promised to get back on track with the EVE Blog Pack Member profiles, by the next week-end!

So, you want to be part of the EVE Blog Pack?

Today marks the last day of what became an 8 month "sabbatical". Next Monday, I'll head to downtown Montreal to start a new career. Though I'm very excited and happy to start next week, I must admit that I enjoyed these last few months. I had time to focus my time and attention to one of my passions, both personal and virtual, and I think it paid off.

Indeed, the last few months have seen an exponential increase in both the numbers of EVE blogs, the quality of the content put out by the EVE Community, and a general feeling that we've built something unique amongst MMOs communities. It's something I'm quite proud of to have participated in, and something which is in part the result of the time I was able to dedicate to the task.

As you might expect, I will not have as much time to blog about EVE. You may have notice a decrease in the amount of posts I've published in the last few weeks. Expect this to be the new output. There's so much one man can do and still live a normal, healthy, family life.

Rest assure I will neither blogfade, nor podfade. The new schedule for MicroWarpCast will be bi-weekly, though I will still publish the EVE Speedlinks once a week (this week's should go live later today). I'm currently working on the editing of show #4, which I expect to have ready by the end of the week-end.

This is where the EVE Blog Pack comes into play. Since I won't be as prolific in my blogging, you can always count on the Pack for constant, quality content on EVE Online. This has been its purpose since day one, and continues to be so.

As such, I have made a little pre-Holiday clean-up of the list, with the result that there are now 2 openings on the Pack. I'll admit that I took the liberty of adding my good friend Black Claw's blog to the pack, as he has showed a genuine interest for several weeks. Not only that, but he has posted more than 30 articles over the last 2 months, and has been a force within the community.

What about those 2 spots you ask? They're open to anyone who has a dedicated EVE blog, which is updated regularly (at least once a week that is) and which provides great material for the community. If you think you've got what it takes, then please let me know by leaving a comment below. I'll give you 2 weeks to consider this. Then I'll ask the 27 other pack member to vote for whom they would want to add to the Pack. I won't be voting myself, as I want to leave it up the the rest of the Pack to decide.

So who will be the 2 new EVE Blog Pack members? That's up to all of you!

EVE Online Speedlinking for November 21st, 2008

It's been a week since the last Speedlinking post (well 6 days to be exact) and you can definitely see that Fanfest is over and Quantum Rise has been launched. The number of articles and blog posts have plummeted along with the price of petrol. I can't deny I appreciate the quieter times. It'll give me a chance to step into New Eden and appreciate (or not) the changes rolled out with Quantum Rise.

EVE Online Speedlinking for November 15th, 2008

It's be just shy of a week since the Fanfest 2008 has ended, and a bit over two weeks since my last Speedlinking post. Suffice to say a lot of great articles and material has been published since then. Though I've tried to gather all the interesting stuff out there on the Intertubes over the last 14 days, some may have slipped through. If so, please let me know and I'll add it to this list.

On another related subject matter, YoMma and I should be recording the next installment of MicroWarpCast early this week. It was planned to do so this past Friday morning, but certain events prevented me from being available. You'll have to wait a few days for it. Knowing that you'll have to go through the list below, I'm not too worried that you'll get bored too quickly. And with Quantum Rise just out, you have a lot on your plate anyways!

EVE Online Speedlinking for October 31st, 2008

It's been another one of those crazy weeks for EVE news, though it was kind of expected being so close to Fanfest 2008. CCP has been coming out with Dev Blogs like there's no tomorrow. I'm particularly excited about the Blockade Runners and Deep Space Transports as reported in Rollin' Rollin' Rollin' by CCP Chronotis. Things look very promising for the Industrialists of New Eden.

In other developments, the next episode of MicroWarpCast will have a slightly different format - YoMma and I will record our own parts and through the magic of editing, I'll combine the two. We were all set up to record the show last night, when my smaller half-clone experienced what could be described as night terrors. And so I spent the next 90 minutes, trying to put her back to sleep. Which I eventually did, but the window for our recording of show #3 was over.

I'm just about to record my part, and will then spend the next day or so editing the show to be released over the week-end. So please bare with us for this different format.

On to the news...

EVE Online Speedlinking for October 24th, 2008

OK, this must have to do with the ramp up to EVE Fanfest or some highly contagious hyperactivity amongst the EVE Bloggers out there, but this week again saw a tremendous activity of EVE Online related news. And this, despite (or maybe actually because) of the the new Star Wars: The Old Republic announced by LucasArts and Bioware, my fellow Canuck Developers!

The 3rd episode of MicroWarpCast will not get published this week-end, but somewhere towards the beginning of next week. Both YoMma and I have RL duties that prevented us from recording our podcast this week. But do not worry, we'll be back next week!

Until then, here are your linkies!!

EVE Online Speedlinking for October 17th, 2008

What a week! If you like EVE news, then the last 2 weeks have been awesome to say the least. It's been a busy week in terms of CCP Dev Blogs, with both the Ghost Training nerfing and the announcement of the Quantum Rise expansion. Add to that a busy week in the EVE blogosphere as well as game site news, and you've got yourself a few hours of reading ahead!

Finally, thank you all for the feedback you gave on our first episode of Micro Warp Cast; it was phenomenal. Thanks for letting YoMma and I know how you enjoyed the show and please keep you comments and feedback coming. That's how we'll improve!

EVE Online Speedlinking for October 10th, 2008

Today marks the beginning of something new. There are currently 5 active EVE Online podcasts, all with their own unique coverage of the game we love so much. I've been thinking of doing some new podcast for the past few weeks now, something that would the equivalent of the VirginWorlds MMORPG News, but for New Eden. The concept behind the show will be explained later, in a separate post. For moment, think of it as an audio version of my Speedlinking posts, with some added gravy!

As you read this, I'm probably banging my head on my desk, trying to figure out how Audacity works to output a decent podcast. Hopefully I won't require stitches.

Enough of me, on to the news!

EVE Online Speedlinking for October 3rd, 2008

It's been another crazy week in EVE news and activities. The EVE Blog Pack members were given some new guidelines to follow, and I must say, their response was amazing. I would not have expected anything less from them! Their hard word is starting to pay off and my EVE Spies tell me there are a few good surprises in the works for them! Stay tuned.

I'm also working on another secret EVE blogging project, one where pretty much any gaming blogger could participate in. Still have to iron out a few things, but you should see a post about it here soon. Hey, you can't stop me!

Now, for the news...

EVE Online Speedlinking for September 26th, 2008

The biggest news item of this last week was of course the System Player Cap put in place during the Empyrean Age patch 1.1 , then nerfed to simply cover Jita, with the added "detour patch". Check out Winterblink's comic on the very issue. Love his stuff!

In the end though, it's just a band-aid solution to a pressing problem, which CCP is well aware of, and trying to find a "working fix", not just something temporary.
